Select Board studies DPW contract in executive session
Select Board · Meeting of January 20, 2026
RUTLAND — Select Board studies DPW contract featuring wage updates and work-rule changes. The board met in executive session January 20 to review a collective bargaining agreement with the DPW union, which had already ratified the contract. The agreement updates wage schedules, strengthens performance standards for stipends and longevity pay, and adds a new winter operations section penalizing staff who do not respond to emergency weather calls.
In exchange, the contract adds job descriptions and merit-based performance evaluations. The board deferred signing to their next meeting to allow additional time for review.
