Select Board reviews FY2027 budget requests from Library, Veterans Services, Recreation.

Select Board · Meeting of January 22, 2026

RUTLAND — Select Board and Finance Committee jointly reviewed FY2027 departmental budgets for Library, Veterans Services, and Recreation and Safe Place. Library Director Kerry Remington reported that the Assistant Librarian position, currently at 23 hours, may expand to 40 hours upon retirement, though that cost is not yet in the budget; Board member Leah Whiteman proposed a separate wage line item to cover such increases and future labor negotiations. Town Administrator Heather Butler presented Veterans Services, prompting Board member Harry Sechman to question whether the proposed stipend is proportional to work output and to call for more public outreach.

Recreation Director Corinna Frohock and Safe Place Director Sarah Galvin explained their fully self-funded revolving fund model and fielded questions about seasonal account fluctuations.
