RUTLAND — The Fourth of July Committee unanimously approved prior minutes and opened planning for 2026 with a $25,222 budget. Barbara Ruchala of the Events Committee proposed a coordinated town-wide mailing to avoid simultaneous fundraising requests, with separate QR codes for donations; the $1,465 cost-sharing question remained open. The committee debated four potential themes tied to the nation's 250th celebration--"Rutland, It's a Town Treasure," "We The People," "Road to Revolution," and "Founding Fathers"--with Colin Spencer committed to design once a theme is selected.
All members must complete state ethics and open meeting law training through Skill Burst, with meetings now capped at 8:00 p.m. due to library space constraints.
