Select Board, Finance Committee review FY2027 budgets for DPW, Health.

Select Board · Meeting of February 12, 2026

RUTLAND — Select Board and Finance Committee jointly reviewed FY2027 budgets for DPW and Board of Health. Department of Public Works Director Christopher Kolofsky presented the budget reflecting newly negotiated union wage increases across administration, operations, snow and ice, facilities, water and sewer, and stormwater accounts. Kolofsky proposed increasing the snow-and-ice line from $200,000 to $280,000 to address chronic deficit spending, but the board favored a minimal increase or status quo, noting that raising the baseline sets a new expected floor.

The board also discussed a proposal to create a shared engineering position funded equally across three enterprise accounts to reduce outside consulting costs.
