Select Board backs school-budget warrant language, approves earmark requests.

Select Board · Meeting of June 16, 2026

Rutland Select Board unanimously endorses three Special Town Meeting warrant articles. The board revised language for Article 1 clarifying that four of five Westboro Regional School District member towns must approve the budget, and backed Article 2 (Home Rule Petition for Rutland Marketplace) while taking no action on a citizen petition. Senator Peter Durant and Representative Kim Ferguson announced that the board's $40,000 engineering earmark for pool renovations and $50,000 Senior Center earmark have been tentatively awarded, though the $150,000 Annex roof-replacement request was not accepted.

The board also authorized Town Administrator Heather Butler's tuition reimbursement for a $2,850 Suffolk University/Massachusetts Municipal Association certificate program and rejected calling a Special Town Election for September, preferring to reassess override strategy for FY2028.
