RUTLAND — Conservation Commission assumes lead on flood plain bylaw and forestry management. The board, meeting jointly with the Select Board, unanimously accepted responsibility for drafting a bylaw to restore federal flood insurance eligibility to nearly 1.2 million dollars' worth of town properties lost after the town missed a July 8, 2025 deadline. Chair Melissa Danza stated the Commission would work from existing wetlands bylaws; four town properties are currently non-compliant with mortgage requirements.
The Commission also voted to develop a forestry management plan for undeveloped town-owned parcels. In applications, seven combined Notices of Intent for Woodside Avenue subdivision lots were continued to March 3, 2026.
