Rutland Select Board Approves $1.85 Million Ladder Truck Borrowing and FY27 Rates
Select Board · Meeting of June 22, 2026
Rutland Select Board approved a $1.85 million short-term borrowing for a fire ladder truck and set a 2.5 percent water and sewer rate increase for FY27 at its June 22 meeting. The board accepted a bid from Greenfield Cooperative Bank at 3.25 percent interest for a one-year bond anticipation note dated July 6, 2026. Seven end-of-year interdepartmental transfers — including $90,000 from highway wages and $64,000 from a vacant town planner salary line to cover snow-and-ice deficits and outstanding legal bills — were approved unanimously pending Finance Committee ratification.
The board also adopted a social media policy eliminating public commenting on all official town channels, jointly appointed John Wambach of 183 Campbell Street as a Planning Board associate member, and signed a proclamation for Finn Park's 100th anniversary. Administrative Assistant Tomeca Murphy's last meeting was acknowledged with thanks; her departure, along with the resignations of the building commissioner and two inspection staff following hour reductions, leaves the town's administrative and inspections capacity significantly reduced heading into July.
