Select Board backs renewal of police and fire chief contracts
Select Board · Meeting of March 16, 2026
RUTLAND — The Select Board cleared three-year contract renewals for Police Chief Nick Monaco and Fire Chief Seth Knipe during an executive session on March 16. Town Administrator Heather Butler explained the renewal terms, noting that annual increases for both chiefs will be tied to the town's wage matrix, including cost-of-living and merit adjustments. The Administrator, rather than the Board, will conduct the chiefs' performance reviews.
Separation clauses align with standard town employee contracts and personnel policies. Board members raised no concerns or requested revisions. Contracts are scheduled for signing at the next regular meeting.
