Bylaw Committee focuses on flood plain compliance requirement
Bylaw Committee · Meeting of March 3, 2026
Rutland Bylaw Committee meets with Conservation Commission on flood plain compliance. Chair of the Conservation Commission told the committee that Rutland was disqualified from the National Flood Insurance Program in July 2025 when FEMA updated flood maps, leaving homeowners along the Ware River unable to access federally backed flood insurance. The Conservation Commission chair will forward a model bylaw with final edits to the committee; the measure must then route through town counsel, the warrant, and the Massachusetts Attorney General.
A placeholder will be placed on the warrant while the committee finalizes language.
