Library Board addresses facilities, approves succession planning for retiring director

Library Board of Trustees · Meeting of July 16, 2026

RUTLAND — Library board plans succession as Kerry Remington prepares to retire. The Rutland Library Board of Trustees met July 16 and unanimously approved June reports from Secretary Jean M. Grant, Library Director Kerry Remington, and Children's Librarian Aislinn Lewis on a meeting that highlighted the library's 25th anniversary celebration with approximately 200 attendees and a restored stained window.

The board accepted the Patron Behavior and Library Rules of Conduct policy for website publication and authorized facility improvements beginning the following week: carpet replacement in three areas and window repairs in the Caulkins room. Remington's retirement triggered a process to fill the acting director position; the board will interview two interested staff members, with a public retirement celebration planned for July 23, 4 to 7 p.m. The library will seek state approval for FY 2027 grant funding.
