Rutland Select Board backs 50-50 pool borrowing split
Select Board · Meeting of April 27, 2026
Rutland Select Board recommends 50-50 pool borrowing split, closes snow and ice deficit before town meeting. Town Administrator Heather told the board $180,000 in year-end transfers, $90,000 from health insurance surplus, $30,000 from highway overtime and $60,000 from highway wages, would cut a $229,360 snow and ice deficit to $49,360 for a free cash transfer at the May 9 annual town meeting. The board also backed a plan splitting roughly $20,000 in annual pool repair loan payments 50-50 with the Recreation Department, netting taxpayers about $2,000 a year.
Members awarded the Woodhouse lease at 232 Main Street to the Rutland Historical Society, endorsed a proposed weekly farmer's market pitched by Randy Jordan, "we've got nothing to lose, let's give it a whirl," and directed staff to draft a town counsel services RFP. The meeting was outgoing Select Board Chair Jen's last before the May 11 town election.
