Rutland Library Reopens After Weeklong Budget-Driven Closure
RUTLAND — Rutland's public library reopened this week after a budget-driven, weeklong closure that ended Aug. 15, resuming a trimmed operating schedule the town put in place July 1.
TOWN HALL The town's website is promoting a "Summer Send Off" community event scheduled for Sept. 5, according to the town's News Flash announcements.
COMMUNITY & ARTS Rutland Free Public Library, at 280 Main St., shut its doors for seven straight days, Aug. 9 through 15, and reopens this week under the reduced schedule adopted July 1 because of budget restrictions, according to the library's website. The library is now open Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday from noon to 8 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with Saturday hours of 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. except between Memorial Day and Labor Day, when the library is closed Saturdays; it remains closed Sundays and Mondays year-round. Library Director Kerry Remington, Assistant Director Tricia Lowe and Youth Services Librarian Aislinn Lewis are listed as the library's leadership on its website.
COMING UP The Select Board and the Historical Commission both meet Monday, Aug. 17, followed by the Conservation Commission and the Agricultural Commission on Tuesday, Aug. 18, according to the town's online meeting calendar.
