Rutland Urges Residents to Help Protect DCR Prison Camp
RUTLAND — The town posted a News Flash Tuesday calling on residents to help protect the DCR Prison Camp, the historic prison-farm ruins inside Rutland State Park, as several town boards prepare to meet later this week.
TOWN HALL
The town's official alerts page carried a notice titled "Protect the DCR Prison Camp," posted the afternoon of Aug. 18. The alert does not spell out what prompted it, but it asks the community to get involved in protecting the site, a well-known hiking destination within the state forest managed by the state Department of Conservation and Recreation. Residents can find the full notice on the town's CivicAlerts page.
COMING UP
Three town boards have meetings on the calendar for Thursday, Aug. 20: the Council on Aging, the Historical Commission and the Redevelopment and Industrial Corporation (RDIC), each posting its own agenda ahead of the session. Wednesday, Aug. 19 also brings the previously announced Rutland Community Electricity public information meeting.
