Finance Committee seeks clarity on FY27 cuts, reserve fund discrepancies, revolving funds.

Finance Committee · Meeting of February 26, 2026

RUTLAND — The Rutland Finance Committee met to discuss FY27 budget impacts as the Wachusett Regional School District projects a slightly less than 8 percent increase, with Rutland seeking an override. The Committee reviewed a Town Administrator memo on revolving funds, concluding that creating one for the Building Inspector would lower General Fund revenue and would require a bylaw amendment not achievable before FY27. Members asked Town Administrator Heather to clarify staffing impacts in public safety, explain Town Hall operations if limited to 16 hours weekly, and define minimum Cable requirements under state law.

The Committee scheduled March 5 to continue budget discussions.
