Finance Committee approves school-assessment amendment ahead of town vote.

RUTLAND — Finance Committee advances $660,058 school-assessment reduction for May 9 town meeting. The Committee voted unanimously to reduce the Worcester Regional School District assessment by an amount equal to Free Cash being used to balance the town budget, with Chair Carol Benoit authorized to draft a separate handout explaining the amendment. The Committee noted that any floor amendments must include an identified funding source.

The May 7th meeting was the Committee's last regular session before the Annual Town Meeting; Karen Nahrwold concludes 12 years of service on the panel as her term ends June 30th.
