Select Board finalizes FY2027 override ballot amounts despite WRSD funding delay

Select Board · Meeting of April 6, 2026

Rutland Select Board finalizes $5.2 million in override questions across three fiscal years. Town Administrator Heather Butler reported that the Western Robbins School District could not vote on a planned $425,000 assessment reduction before the town's ballot printer deadline, requiring the board to lock override amounts at $3 million (FY2027), $1.2 million (FY2028), and $1 million (FY2029). Finance Committee members expressed frustration that school funding remained decoupled from the override, meaning schools would be fully funded even if voters rejected the questions, while town departments would face cuts.

The boards will meet April 9 to finalize Town Meeting warrant recommendations.
