Rutland Select Board Signs Warrants For Town Meeting And Election

Select Board · Meeting of April 13, 2026

Rutland Select Board signs town meeting warrant, presses Recreation Department on pool debt. The board voted unanimously to amend Article 18's borrowing explanation so the recreation revolving fund covers only "a portion" of a pool resurfacing loan, after the recreation director said she could not commit to the $30,000 to $40,000 a year needed. Town Administrator Heather said the fund "doesn't want to tie the rec program to something that she cannot honestly predict will be available." Members approved a Main Street streetlight near Spruce Hill Estates but let a motion for nine Rutland Heights Way lights die for lack of a second, citing a possible budget override cut from $48,000 to $12,000.

The board also voted to oppose state legislation a staffer said could delay roughly $400,000 a year of Rutland's $1.9 million in excise tax revenue, off a 96 percent collection rate.
