Rutland finance panel approves $7,555 reserve fund transfer
Other Committee · Meeting of March 26, 2026
Rutland reconsiders override size after a $425,000 one-time school savings. Town Administrator Heather told the joint Select Board and Finance Committee meeting that Wachusett Regional School District's certified assessment came in at $18,283,604, about $425,000 below projections, but warned it "is not what the FY28 budget will look like." The Finance Committee voted 5-1 to transfer $7,555.12 from reserves for an unanticipated retirement payout, and the boards bumped the snow and ice budget to $252,000 to cover a new $2,500-per-employee attendance incentive worth an estimated $35,000 in liability. Health insurance remains unresolved at a proposed 18.9 percent increase, and the full FY27 budget was tabled to the Select Board's March 30 meeting.
Ballot language for any override questions is due to the town clerk by April 8.
