Rutland Select Board approves override ballot language for May vote
Other Committee · Meeting of March 30, 2026
Rutland Select Board locks in ballot language for a $5.1 million, three-year override vote. The board approved a fiscal 2027 budget of $31.66 million, or about $31.23 million if the Wachusett Regional School District trims its assessment by $425,000. Town Administrator Heather said the multi-year structure "removes the necessity of coming back every year for the next three years." Insurance consultant Brian Boyle told the board premiums are rising 18.9 percent, and the board voted 4-1 to raise its flexible-spending match to $500 rather than the $1,000 requested.
The board also signed three-year contracts for Police Chief Nick Monaco and Fire Chief Seth Knight, and reviewed a near-final home rule charter headed to the May town meeting.
