Rutland Planning Board backs open space plan, presses developer on damage
Planning Board · Meeting of April 28, 2026
Rutland Planning Board backs open space plan while pressing a developer over wall damage. Members voted 2-0-1 to send a letter of support for the CMRPC-drafted Open Space and Recreation Plan, years behind its original 2023 target, despite one member's complaint that "there's no maps, I want the maps." Separately, the board said a contractor at Bryce Hilltop Estates bulldozed 30 to 40 feet of a historic stone wall and installed a sewer manhole at road-surface level without salvaging the stones required under town bylaw, calling it "a complete disrespect for the rules, for the residents of this town." The board also declined to seek a fiscal 2027 town planner salary increase, noting predecessors left for $93,000 and an estimated $110,000-plus elsewhere, and shelved a bid to double its revolving fund cap to $64,000 after missing the town meeting warrant deadline. A new special permit hearing was set for 43 Davis Street.
