Rutland conservation board continues Ridge Road wetlands case
Conservation · Meeting of May 5, 2026
Rutland Conservation Commission continues a Ridge Road subdivision review and advances a wetlands fee rewrite. The board voted 4-0 to continue Elbag Brothers Inc.'s notice of intent for a Ridge Road house lot to May 19, after debating whether older Approval-Not-Required lots count toward a four-lot stormwater compliance threshold. Engineer Mark, representing the applicant, said he would add a silt fence and shift the driveway to meet the town's 30-foot wetland offset bylaw.
The commission voted 5-0 to issue a negative determination allowing a 29 Prescott Street property owner to add garden beds, fruit trees and a chicken and duck coop. Members also discussed a draft fee schedule, including a $612.50 total charge for new single-family notices of intent, and flagged recurring erosion-control problems at Bear Hill Estates for a follow-up site visit. A forest-cutting plan for Bigelow Road drew criticism for lacking detail on access routes even as clearing had already begun.
