Planning Board · Meeting of June 10, 2026

Rutland's Planning Board spent over two hours Tuesday revising a draft update to the town's subdivision regulations, debating streetlight and open-space requirements while acknowledging the town has neither a town planner nor a building inspector. Member Richard Williams pushed to keep dark-sky protections, while member Keith Tuttle argued for streetlights, saying "I'm a safety guy. I like streetlights." The board agreed new streetlights must use downward-facing luminaires and added crossing-device requirements for streets expected to serve 50 or more homes, citing a pedestrian struck near a Main Street crossing within the past year.

Members approved the prior meeting's minutes 4-0-1 and voted 5-0 to adjourn. The board scheduled its next working session for June 24 at 6 p.m.
