Council on Aging approves reappointment of Juliano and Flaherty.

Council on Aging · Meeting of May 21, 2026

RUTLAND — Council on Aging reappoints board members in face of override defeat. The board unanimously reappointed Chair Karen Juliano and member Jessica Flaherty while absorbing the impact of a failed Proposition 2½ override and a citizen's petition to increase public safety and DPW spending, which will trigger a June special town meeting. A $50,000 secured grant from Peter Durant will help offset losses.

Nancy Nichols reported ongoing capital work: a furnace installation, roof-damage repairs, and an ADA bathroom renovation using remaining grant funds. The board will present goals and plans to the Select Board on August 3.
