RDIC votes to expand Rutland Heights land RFP

Other Committee · Meeting of April 17, 2026

Rutland committee votes 5-0 to widen Rutland Heights land RFP to the whole remaining parcel. The Rutland Development and Industrial Commission scrapped a staff-drafted request for proposals limited to a 10-acre section of the town-owned Rutland Heights property, opting instead to advertise all remaining land with "any portion thereof" eligible for bid. Members cited two years of holding off on marketing the site while awaiting progress at the nearby Harmony Place housing development, now under construction.

"We can't keep waiting. There's no point in sitting on it," one member said. The panel also voted 5-0 to appoint member Mike Sullivan as its negotiator, with the chair citing a lack of in-house engineering or planning staff, and required committee review of the RFP's language before the town administrator issues it, targeting the May 14 meeting.
