Rutland Select Board called a special Town Meeting for November 19 while confronting a water treatment facility staffing emergency. The Board voted unanimously to approve a four-way stop at the Route 68 and Wachusett Street intersection following a multi-year history of crashes. The Muschopauge Water Treatment Facility has only one licensed operator remaining and requires emergency contracted services costing $43,000 to $45,000 monthly against a $385,000 annual budget; the Board directed the Town Administrator to issue a Request for Proposals for longer-term professional operations services.

The Board also authorized Chair Sheila Dibb to send a letter to the Department of Conservation and Resources requesting delay of planned destruction of Rutland Prison Camp structures pending consideration for state historic site designation.
